Back to School Orientation

Tonight was a back to school parent orientation for Sophia's new school, Little Angels. I must admit, I think I may be more excited about Sophia's upcoming "first" day of school. You see, I have always wanted Sophia to attend this preschool and I was so excited when they called to let us know they had a spot for her. And although it was sad to say goodbye to her old school, I know Sophia will have a blast at her new school with her friends.

I didn't want to look like a weirdo taking photos at orientation, so I only snapped one. Sophia's room is called Bumble Bee, which is a 3-4 year old classroom. Here's the pic:
All the kid's birthdates are on a huge wall
along with their own Bumble Bee. So cute!

Stay tuned for more photos and updates. Wish little Miss Sophia lots of luck on her first day! Oh and guess who is going to be a Room Mom? : )

Kalista's 9 Month Check-Up

Well here's the report card: In 3 months I grew almost 3 inches and gained 2 pounds. I'm still on the small side when you compare me to my big sister at this age. But Dr. Abbott says I'm doing great and I am right on track! He was also very impressed that I didn't cry during the exam like most babies at this age. But I did cry briefly when I got a "poke" in my leg!
Height = 26 1/4 inches (From -5 percentile to 8th percentile)
Weight = 16 pounds 11 ounces (20th percentile)

And here's Sophia at 9 months
Height = 27 inches (26th percentile)
Weight = 18 pounds 2 ounces (45th percentile)

Kalista - 9 Months Old

9 Month Autobiography:
I still like to smile and I'm pretty sure I am still an easy-going baby. I have 2 bottom teeth and my 2 top teeth have poked through as well. I'm not into mushy baby food but I love what the rest of my family is eating - I just need some more teeth to really enjoy the culinary world. I "talk" a lot and I can crawl. But I must admit, I would rather work on standing by myself than crawling around trying to chase my big sister. Oh and I prefer to learn the hard way...most babies pull themselves up to stand, but not me! I like to try from the sitting position. But like I said, it's the hard way!
See? Still smiling!
My starting position
It's not easy to stand up from this position
But I'm going to keep trying!

I'll be back with my stats tomorrow after I see the doctor!

3 Year Old Check-Up

Last Friday, Sophia had her 3 year old doctor visit. It had been such a long time since her last doctor's visit, which was when she had her 2 year old check-up. I told Sophia she wasn't going to get any shots, but I was wrong. Oops - Good thing her daddy took her! They poked her finger and gave her one shot. Sophia didn't even flinch! And I think she thought it was pretty funny to have peed in a cup. Sophia's appointment was great and so were her stats.
Height = 38 1/4 inches (75th percentile)
Weight = 31 pounds 8 ounces (55th percentile)
See you next year! (Hopefully not sooner!)

Ventura Fair

First stop...Pony ride
Pretty soon Kalista and you can
ride the pony too!

Last ride of the night!

It was a fun evening of lots of rides and food! Both girls did great and fell fast asleep once we got in the car. Sophia was a little trooper when we got home...she changed into her PJs and brushed her teeth without a fuss and hopped into bed. And Kalista, well she is always a little trooper. She's just an angel!

August 9, 2010 = Sophia's a 3 Year Old

Well it's official! Sophia is now 3 years old. But sometimes I feel like she is more like a 5 year old because of the way she talks, which can be good and bad! Nonetheless I'm sure we are in for a wild ride this next year! But in a good way...right?!
The "crown" on Sophia's head is the
wrapper from her blanket. She insisted
on keeping it and wearing it!
Sophia invited her doll "Susie" (not sure where she
came up with the name) and her Hello Kitty to dinner.

Sophia's 3rd Birthday Party

Ah yes the day had finally come and we could finally say, "Yes!" when Sophia asked if her party was today. Sophia has been looking forward to this day for over a month now. She had the time of her life with all her little friends. I'm pretty sure the kids had fun too...I mean how could you not with a bounce house, beach balls, juice boxes, pinata and cake! I just wish I could have had more time to visit with my friends, but hosting kind of takes that away. It was all worth it though because we got to see the biggest smiles and hear the loudest laughs from our darling Sophia.

Viva La Fiesta!

To kick-off Fiesta week we took the girls to the little carnival at Mackenzie Park. Poor little Kalista has been battling a cold this week, but she was a little trooper - just sitting in her stroller taking in all the sights and sounds.
