Designated Driver

The other night the gals and I went out for drinks and sushi. What made this night even more fun and worry-free was no one had to drive. Now, it's not like we are heavy drinkers. But nowadays who wants to chance driving after having more than one drink? I'm not sure what it would take for me to be .08, but I never want to find out! I mean I'm pretty sure I'd fail the sobriety test, while sober, out of nervousness.

So the night started out with Todd, Marcy's hubby, dropping us off at Hob Nob. Then we strutted down to Arigato. And how did we get home? You'll see. : )

A Message from the Birthday Girl

I must admit, I was feeling a little down a few days preceding my birthday. Not really sure why. Maybe because it reminded me of when I was a little girl and, like most children, thought people over the age of primary/secondary schooling were soooo OLD.

On my actual birthday I went for a long morning run and clarity came over me, "Get over it! Seriously, Jennifer. Look at your life." I have a beautiful family, married the love of my life, have 2 ADORABLE girls I am fortunate to stay home with to raise, made lifelong friends who I can always count on, done lots of traveling, lost all the baby weight (twice) in less than 8 weeks and weigh LESS than I did in high school, have been running 4 times/week for the past 7 years without aches & pains : ) The best part of this list is it goes on and on and on; all in which I am very thankful.

So touche' to that silly little girl...I'm tootin' my own horn
 because age ain't got nothin' on me.

A Very Happy Birthday

My birthday week started with a celebration with friends at Jane. 

I adore all these lovely ladies who make my life smile.

My actual birthday was the day before Easter. 

What better way to spend it than with a good 'ol fashion Easter Egg Hunt. 

Watching the kids have so much fun was the perfect way to spend my day.

Later that evening we enjoyed dinner at Ahi Sushi 

followed by birthday cake and presents.

Easter Egg Hunt

The club had their annual Easter egg hunt and Sophia was very eager to take part. I was excited as well to see her run out there and scurry around for eggs. The previous years were a little overwhelming in regards to competing with the bigger kids. But this year I knew Sophia could hold her own.

Aside from "Status" overload, Facebook does have its' perks. Since I am a fan of Whodelicious, (also known as Whodidily in Montecito), I saw the post on FB about their daily Easter egg hunt within the store. So before we frosted our own cupcake, yes that's right you can frost your own cupcake, we went on a little Easter egg hunt.

It may sound crazy and a bit on the sugar 

overload side, but you GOTTA try frosting 

your own cupcake with not only their buttercream

frosting but also with their soft serve ice cream.

The cupcake comes hot out of the oven and then...

A Date with an Old Friend

Today we met Tammy & Graham at the zoo for a long overdue play date. Graham and Kalista met each other in PEP over a year ago. Although it has been hard for us to make the weekly PEP play date on Wednesdays, I am so happy I haven't lost contact with these fabulous Mommies. And Tammy is extra fabulous because she keeps our group going strong!

I love how Sophia and the rest of her Bumble Bee pals have been busy gardening/planting. The weather has been just perfect for tapping into her green thumb skills.

We celebrated David's birthday over the weekend. Friday night was just the two of us  - dining at Sakana (exquisite Sushi in Montecito) followed by dessert at Lucky's.

Preschool Carnival

Saturday was Sophia's annual Spring Carnival for her school. The day was jam-packed with pony rides, games/prizes, a petting zoo, bounce houses and fun, fun, fun!

One of the auction items was something 

the room moms worked on with the kids.

Sophia was excited to have me working in her class.

 The finished product along with a lemon tree.

The bumble bee bodies are the thumbprints 

of each student in Sophia's class.
